Tracking Her Happiness

So happy to be an art teacher! So happy to play with clay!

It is my intent to create a personal survey using surveymonkey.com. I am interested in tracking my awareness of my personal levels of'happiness', of stress, or feeling prepared or lack thereof and how these factors relate to my effectiveness of teaching in a given day. I plan to take the survey three times a week. One's state of mind even before entering the classroom absolutely sets the stage for a class. To consciously create a positive or negative environment requires a level of awareness I believe for the most part is within one's choice. Conversely, the mood of the class can influence the teacher. Hopefully, the teacher gets there first.

Then again, we all have bad days, which are very normal, and so it is in how we resolve and work with those challenges that truly prove our effectiveness and levels of awareness. We do not always have the benefit of a clean slate. Or do we?

Tracking her nervousness. Tracking her stressful-ness. Tracking her feeling messy-ness. I have yet to formally track what is happening for "her" but she is planning to create a short and simple survey to get things rolling. She is coming to the end of her first grading week, ever. We'll have to survey her to see how she is feeling after tomorrow's grading deadline. Momentarily, she does feel that she is ten times more calm than she was this afternoon. What if she were more ahead of the game than she realizes? She'll find out tomorrow. She has felt extremely uncomfortable with how out of control everything is seeming. For this reason, she has not felt especially giddy.
